Advertisements

Process:
In creating these advertisements, I had to look into some further research to find some ideas of what to display for the ads. I had to look up various logos, slogans, and examples for each item. These items included: 1) food = apple 2) clothing = Nike
3) music artist = J.Cole. These items were chosen out of a bowl, which were written on small pieces of paper, and we had to choose amongst 3 choices per item to advertise. I didn't have to use the fact about who the advertisements would apply to because the apple is very general and the other two advertisements I recreated.
For the apple, I didn't look up any ideas for what to create, but I did have to look up a logo to put onto my advertisement. The slogan was of my doing, but I might have had it in mind because I might have seen or heard that slogan once in the far past. I went to my tool bar on the left side of my screen and went down to the text option that had the symbol "T". Once I had selected this option, I was able to click anywhere I wanted, the bottom left corner, to add my text. After I had typed in my text, I highlighted the text and went up to the top of the image where it showed ways to edit your text. To make my text stand out and make it look original, I changed the font and the font size. I also wanted to make the text a different color, so I changed the color of the wording to red. Since the text didn't really stand out too much, I made another text and changed that one's font, size, and color to make to pop more. After I had added text, I needed to find some type of logo to make it look more professional. So, I looked up various apple logos on google. Once I had found one that I liked, I had to put in on my computer and open it in Photoshop for editing. In order to obtain the image on my computer, I had to select the image, that had the logo on it, to view the image. Then I had to right click and save it to my desktop. From there, I had to bring it into Photoshop and have it start as a separate image than that of my advertisement. This allowed me to edit the logo before putting in my advertisement. I didn't have to do any editing, so I copied it and then pasted it onto my ad. From there, all I had to do was either shrink it down or blow it up by going to Edit - Transform - Scale. This allowed me to adjust the logo's size without having cutting off parts of it. While resizing it, I had to hold down the shift key so that the image wouldn't warp into strange shapes. Once it was in place, I tried out different ways of editing it. To do this, I selected the logo and went to Layer - Layer Style - Blending Options, and played around with different ways to edit the logo and make it pop ou more. After that, I had to make sure that it blended in nicely with the background, and it did, so it was complete. After I was done with everything, I had to go to Layers - Flatten Image - Save As.
For Nike, I have to do a bit more research. I didn't know what I was going to do to display Nike. So, I looked up various Nike advertisements and I found one that obtained a slogan and an image that I knew that I could recreate. The image was of a football player's arm holding onto his helmet and the slogan read, "Everyone loses games. Few change them." I changed this up by using a Nike volleyball jersey and Nike spandex, along with a volleyball. My advertisement included the same words, but a different image and a different form of the Nike logo. To make this advertisement, I had to lay everything out on a black backdrop. While laying everything out, I had to organize everything in a specific layout. I had to do this because I needed to show the Nike symbol on the clothing and I had to express what the sport was by using a volleyball. The layout had to be specific, also, because I knew that I would have to leave room on the left for the slogan and the logo. After I had gotten the image taken, I brought into Photoshop and edited the image before I added any form of text. First, I had to make sure that the background was very, rather dark because that was how is was displayed in the example that I had found online, and because I needed to make sure that the wrinkles from the backdrop weren't going to be seen. After I had darkened the image, I went to my tool bar on the left side of my screen and went down to the text option that had the symbol "T". Once I had selected this option, I was able to click anywhere I wanted, the top left corner, to add my text. After I had typed in my text, I highlighted the text and went up to the top of the image where it showed ways to edit your text. To make my text match the text of the example, I changed the font and the font size. I also wanted to make the text stand out, but to also match the image I used, so I had to change the color of the wording. After I was done with the image and the text, I had to add in the Nike logo. This required me to go back into doing more research for just the right logo and background color the logo was in. I wanted to have the logo in white and the background needed to be black so that it would blend in with the background I used for the image. After that, I had to make sure that it blended in nicely with the background, and it did, so it was complete. After I was done with everything, I had to go to Layers - Flatten Image - Save As.
The advertisement for J.Cole was the hardest one for me to do. This was so hard because I had to find an album cover of his and I had to try to recreate it. This was so hard because, not trying to be racist or anything, but I didn't have any friends to use to take the image because I had just moved to the state I was living in and I didn't have any African American friends to take the image for me. I had to make my version of the album look exactly like the original. So, I found once that required and white hand and some object. This part was easy. However, the original had the hand holding a form or balance devise, but I didn't have one. So, I used a fork and a bracelet to make it look as close as possible to the balance. Since the original album used a wall with cracks in it for the background, I just found a white concrete wall to use. It was extremely hard for me to create the correct editing because I couldn't get the image dark enough after I had obtained the white effect for the hand and for the highlights of the wall. I even used the burn tool to try to darken it, but it either made it too dark and it didn't show up at all. Once I was done with the editing, I had to try to add in the logo that went with the album. I didn't have to add any slogans. The bad thing about this logo was that I couldn't do the whole saving the image and using Photoshop to add it in the image because there was no way to make it blend into the hand. The background of the logo wouldn't match the hand. This meant that I would have to draw the logo myself. In order to do this, I had an image of the album in my view and I had to use the draw tool, located on the tool bar to the left of the screen. I had to make the color, that I was drawing in, in white because that was what the original looked like. This took me several tries to make it look the same. Once I had added in the logo, I went to Layer - Flatten Image - Save As.
