Concentration Images

Artist Statement :

My concentration is of little kids in candids, portraits, and in color. My images capture little kids in their natural environment and expresses who they are on the inside and out. I take images of kids because I love getting that perfect shot of them that allows you to be able to see what differentiates them from others in the world. I put all of my images in color because it is much easier to obtain the emotion and expression through color than through black and white. The point is to express pieces of them, and that glow/vibrance that they have is better seen through their own color that shines through them. I shoot these images because I love being able to have my camera out and capture them as they are playing or smiling when they are doing it outside of a studio and in their own little world.

For these images, the only adjustments that I really had to do was to adjust my aperture and to have my focus set to manual. Also , I had to have my camera set at multiple shots for when I held down the button to take a picture because I wanted to keep shooting so that I could get the perfect image while the kids were moving and to make sure that I didn't miss an action or a smile that expressed their personality. When it came to editing the images, I didn't have to do much. Most of the time, I did was add contrast, brightness, and saturation.

Alternative photo techniques for this concentration could have been to do some in black and white or to add more editing to get a certain effect, or to do more portraits than candids. Another technique could be to have done older people as well as young people.
Variety/Breadth

Explanation

I explored all of these units because I wanted to try to express the different sides of my photography and show what all I can do. Just becuase I portraits of kids as my concentration doesn't mean that that is it. I am able to do other things, and I am able to experiment with various ways to shoot and edit images. The units that I expored were landscape, low light, panorama, multilayer images, architecture, still life, advertisements, typologies, levitation, fading, animals, kaleidoscope, and David Hockney. There were various techniques that I used. These included the usage of photoshop and adjustments to my ISO and aperture. I am sure that there are several techniques to create these images, but the usage of photoshop and manual adjustments to the camera is the basic setup.
